Thursday 28th May 2020

The weeks have rolled by and the sun has continued to shine! Our to do lists are done and our houses and gardens are all tidy….. well that’s the theory! For some people it has been a really hard time for lots of different reasons. It has been announced that tonight will be the last #clapforcarers for various reasons. So let’s go out with a lot of clapping and say a thanks to all of those who have kept things going over the last weeks.

What new skills have you learnt or revisited? Baking, cycling, jogging, gardening or mastering Zoom calls!

The Kettins Support Group volunteers continue to be busy with prescriptions and running errands and this is continuing. What else is happening?

Sunday papers –  we have a wee group of folks that are getting their papers delivered by our very own paper ‘boy’ David! If you want added to the list let me know by Saturday.

Kettins Swap Shop – we had a good turn out on Monday. As well as groceries, there were strawberries and rhubarb! A few plants to share out as well. Also face masks can be collected then too. You do not need to have something to share, so come along and get a catch up.  We were outside on Monday and we are planning it to be that way unless there is rain! It is much easier to social distance. So Monday 10.00am – 11.00am come along to Kettins Church Hall and see what is on offer!

The weekly news is also continuing! It has been dubbed The Kettins COVID Chronicles!!!

Services reopening
Today some restrictions have been lifted and we await the Scottish Government further announcements. PKC has announced that recycling centres will open on Monday. Some restrictions will apply and so please check out here. www.pkc.gov.uk/recyclingcentres

Fly Tipping – there has been an increase in this in recent weeks and there are two different incidents around Kettins. Please let the council know if you see anything suspicious.

Thefts –  unfortunately there has been reports of two thefts – one from a garden and the other for the hall building site –  as well as vandalism and theft in the children’s playpark.  The police have been informed of these and if you can help with any information, please contact them on 101. It is really sad to report given all the good work and community spirit that has developed.  Please be vigilant and report any incidents.

Coupar Angus Market Garden
Fresh seasonal organic vegetables are available from the Market Garden in Coupar Angus, a Forward Coupar Angus project. You need to sign up at the following email list managed by Amandla:
[email protected] .
She then emails you a weekly produce list and takes orders. Orders can then be picked up at the Market Garden Bogside Rd/Causewayend, usually on Thursday 10-12.

Recipes!
Well it has to be strawberries this week.

Pavlova or strawberry tarts. How about using some Filo pastry and lining some muffin/small cakes tins. Bake until brown and crisp. Allow to cool. Into each case add some creme fraiche and strawberries on top. Quick, easy, tasty and a favourite with the Kettins Village lunch group, especially when made by Charlie!

There are no changes to the information sheets this week but all previous information can be found on www.kettins.org . Last weeks attached.

Keep safe and let’s come out of lockdown safely. Enjoy any family catch up this weekend.

Susan
